世界にひとつだけの名刺

サラリーマン時代、名刺はつくるものではなく、つくってもらうものだった。

会社指定のフォーマットがあり、他の社員と異なる部分といえば、肩書きと名前ぐらい。それが当たり前だったし、正直、名刺について深く考えることはなかった。

でも、フリーになったいま、状況は変わった。
名刺は、自分でつくるものになったのだ。厳密に言えば、つくるのは他の人であって、考えるのが自分なのだが。

ただ、早々にいろんな方々に会う機会があったこともあり、取り急ぎつくらなければ・・・となってネットを頼りにした。検索すると、名刺を安く早くつくってくれるサービスがたくさん。

多少比較検討して、利用するサービスを決定。テンプレートを選んで発注をかけた。数日後に届いたのがこれだ。

100枚で3000円ちょっとぐらい（だったかな。初期費用はもう少しかかったかも）。オリジナリティはないが、悪くはない。色味も体裁もそれなりに整っているからよしとしよう・・・ということで、約4カ月にわたり使用してきた。

ただどっかのタイミングで、デザインも含めいちから考えて新調したいとは思っていた。そんな折りに、友人のデザイナーが「フリーの門出を祝って（先行きを哀れんで？）、デザインしてあげますよ」と声をかけてくれた。そうして、先日できあがったのがこれである。

いざ本気になってつくるとなると、いろんなこだわりがでてきて、友人にはかなりの注文をつけてしまった。何回もデザインを変えてもらったし、カラーバリエーションもいくつか出してもらった。

名刺は自分の顔というかアイデンティティにもなるだけに、かなり慎重になったし、妥協するわけにはいかなかった。加えて、名刺がダサイと印象が悪くなりそうだし、仕事の依頼がこなくなるとも思ったのだ。

「神は細部に宿る」。好きな言葉のひとつである。前職時代、徹底的に教え込まれたことでもあり、後輩にも伝えてきたことである。それはなにも仕事だけに限ったことではない。ちょっとしたメールの文面しかり、ファッションしかり、言動や立ち振る舞いしかり。

大事なのは善し悪しではなく、気をつかえているかどうか。気をつかうということは、相手や受け手のことを考えるということ。普段それを考えていない人に、読み手の心を動かす文章などかけるはずがない。そう思うのだ。

だから僕はいまも意識をするし、他人のことも自然とチェックしてしまう。自分が言うほどできているかどうかは定かではない。でも意識した上でのこの名刺。もし、受け取っていい印象を抱かなかったら、早めのご指摘をお願いします。
